River Teign, Devon
The River Teign is a river, 30 miles long, located in the county of Devon, England. The Teign rises near Cranmere Pool, on Dartmoor and flows past Castle Drogo towards Newton Abbot . Here it becomes tidal before finally joining the English Channel at Teignmouth . It is crossed near Teigncombe by a prehistoric clapper bridge, which is an ancient style of bridge made from large slabs of granite. The area is home to a wide variety of wildlife including herons, dippers, grey wagtails, mallards and kingfishers as well as bluebells and daffodils. The river is a popular spot for fishing, and is home to salmon, brown trout and sea trout.
