Burgh Island, Devon
Burgh Island is a small island located near to the village of
Bigbury-on-Sea in Devon, England. The island is close to the mainland and can be reached by foot during low tide. At high tide a sea tractor provides access. Burgh Island is home to an
art deco hotel , built in 1929 upon the ruins of an old monastery. The island was the setting for two
Agatha Christie novels ‘And Then There Were Non’ and ‘Evil Under the Sun’. There is a network of footpaths criss-crossing the island, making it a popular destination for hikers.
