River Otter
The River Otter is located in the county of Somerset, England. Rising from the Blackdown Hills , north of Otterford, the river flows for around 20 miles before joining the English Channel at Lyme Bay , an area of the Jurassic Coast . A fully working watermill, which dates back 1,000 years, is located on the river in the village of Otterton. The river flows through Otter Estuary Nature Reserve . This area of tidal saltmarsh and mudflats has been designated a Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI). The area is home to a vast and varied population of wildlife including greenshank, redshank, dunlin, ringed plover, grey plover, curlew, snipe, teal, shelduck, brent and reed warbler.
