River Washford, Somerset
The River Washford flows through the county of Somerset in England. The Washford rises on Kennisham Hill near Luxborough in Somerset’s Brendon Hills, to the north east of Exmoor . From this source near Kingsbridge the Washford heads east via Druids Combe and Langridge Wood to Roadwater. From here the river turns north and flows through its namesake town of Washford before entering the Bristol Channel at Watchet on the north Somerset coast. The river valley passes through the Cleeve Hill Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This is situated between Old Cleeve and Watchet and was designated as an SSSI in 1989.
