River Brue, Somerset

River Brue
The River Brue is a river that flows for just over thirty miles through the county of Somerset in England. The river rises in Kingswood Warren in Brewham, Somerset and flows on to the town of Bruton . Just under a mile upriver from the town, at Church Bridge, is the Bruton flood control system which was installed to control the flow of the river in 1984. The work was prompted by the flood of 12 July,1982 when the river rose several feet during a six hour period as a result of some exceptionally heavy rain. The River Brue reaches the sea on the Somerset coast at Burnham-on-Sea .
