Brean Down, Somerset

Projecting out into the Bristol Channel , Brean Down is situated on the Somerset coast in England. Brean Down is 98 meters high and is formed from carboniferous limestone. Owned by the National Trust , Brean Down is home to the Palmerston Fort which dates back to 1865 and sits at the top of a steep climb. The area is a Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI) and enjoys a rich abundance of wildlife and plant life, including thyme, brambles and Somerset hair grass. Brean Down is also home to peregrine falcons, kestrels, and jackdaws as well as a selection of butterflies.
