Malham Tarn is a
National Trust owned lake near
Malham Village in the
Yorkshire Dales , England. Measuring roughly 150 acres and at it’s deepest, 4 metres, it is also known for being the highest lake in England at 377 metres. After being brought to the surface by a nearby fault nearly 10000 years ago, it has since halved in size. It has a local reputation for its excellent trout and is also inhabited by water birds such as curlew and mallard. The lake is used by the
Malham Tarn Field Studies Centre to teach geography and biology to residential and non-residential students.
