Brimham Rocks, located near
Harrogate in England, are a scattered collection of rock formations set in 50 acres of moorland. Their creation started 320 million years ago when a huge river delta washed down sediment from mountains as far way as Norway. As they settled on the river bed, they created Millstone Grit. As the Ice Age wore on, exposed outcrops of stone were shaped over millions of years by erosion and sand blasting along at ground level resulting in the balanced shapes seen today. Owned by the
National Trust they are situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
