Aughton is a small town located in the district of Ormskirk approximately 12 miles North of Liverpool. It is to be found just off the main A59, a major trunk road between Liverpool and Preston. In fact this location is so convenient that it has always been a popular town with those who appreciate a semi rural location yet need to be able to use major commuter routes. Aughton is ideally placed for motorway access – the M58 which takes you North from where it joins the M6 for Preston and beyond or the M57, sometimes referred to as the Liverpool Outer Ring Road. For those who prefer to travel by train Aughton is well serviced by Merseyrail with their station at Town Green. It is said that Aughton is one of the most attractive residential areas in West Lancashire, indeed it has been a winner of the Lancashire Best Kept Village contest in the past.. Aughton benefits from a range of traditional shops and leisure facilities in fact it boasts around 36 acres of public open space including parks and play areas and two churches that are worth a visit for their architectural appeal.
