Tillicoultry is a large pleasant village nestling at the foot of the beautiful Ochils in Stirlingshire, central Scotland. Stunning scenery and countryside surround the area and yet it's positioned just a few miles or so from the busy city of Stirling. It has a rich history where the mining of coal and quarrying for stone played its part, and with the close proximity of the Tillicoultry Burn flowing nearby led to the growth and expansion of the village as it proved vital in the powering of the Woollen, and Textile Mills which sprang up, reaching its height of 12 in the 19th Century. With the Mills came the Mill Workers and the need for housing, cottages sprang up in abundance many of which survive today. Today's visitors to the village will be thrilled with memorable views and attractive countryside offering walkers a chance to stroll along Upper Mill Street and climb the Glen where several Burns meet before flowing into the river. There are a good choice of places to stay, and fabulous shopping to be had with a Shopping Outlet offering 40 shops to explore, and a handful of pubs that serve a dram and a warm Scottish welcom
