Annbank is a village in south Ayrshire in Scotland close to the east Ayrshire border situated 5 miles east of Ayr close to the River Ayr. Originally a mining community Annbank is now popular with tourists and is an ideal base for visiting the attractions of Ayrshire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and dairy farms the village has shops and amenities, a village hall, park, sports-complex and bowling club. There are many hotels, holiday accommodation and places to eat in and around the area. The wildlife reserve is at nearby Enterkine Estate and Rozelle House Galleries has interesting art and museum collections of Ayr. Annebank once had a train service direct to the scenic sandy beaches and Ayr Harbour to catch the last sea-going paddle-steamer the PS Waverly to cruise up and down the Clyde, although the rail-link is no longer in operation the paddle-steamer is still a main attraction in this premier coastal resort. Ayr Racecourse is a top racing centre home to the Scottish Grand National and there are Walkabout Ayr Tours around the auld toon (older part of town). This part of the country has strong association with Robert Burns with the Burns Heritage Park, Burns House Museum and the birthplace, Burns Cottage. Nearby Troon has a sailing-centre offering sea-angling trips, yachting and the famous Royal Troon Golf Course host of the UK Open Championship.
