Ayrshire and Arran Reports

Ayr, Ayrshire and Arran

Review of Ayr by Helene Bell on June 2nd, 2009
We have stayed at the Killkeren B&B recently for 3 nights, my father celebrated his 90th birthday whilst we were there, and Margaret and her staff were fantastic, we were all overwhelmed by the amazing breakfast and our rooms were lovely, I recommend this accomodation the service and hospitality are first class, especially for the price. We will definately be returning.

I,m not a racegoer, but my family circus has visited both Ayr and its racecourse for many years, and I have to agree as a man who keeps and trains horses, Ayr racecourse is a real pleasure and a delight to visit, it caters obviously for the racegoer, banquets, weddings, functions, hotel guests, circus, fairground and probably the best Sunday market in Scotland!

Brodick, Ayrshire and Arran

Review of Brodick by Alan & Fiona on November 7th, 2007
Lovely hotel, we stayed in room 21 which turned out to be a beautiful suite, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Only slight let down was the size of bath/shower in the en-suite. Food was to die for in the 2 Rosette restaraunt. Island scenery trully stunning, we will be back just as soon as we can, thanks Auchrannie

Catrine, Ayrshire and Arran

Review of Catrine by Kyle Howie on April 23rd, 2007
The Royal Bar is a fine establishment, which cannot be beaten by any other local pub in ayrshire. Great facilities, well priced alcohol, food to die for and great company to top it all off. Its a must go place for anybody who hasnt visited before.

Maybole, Ayrshire and Arran

Review of Maybole by Calum on September 17th, 2010
Don't expect a warm welcome in Carrick Sports Club. I was in Maybole with a group of friends last week and thought that we would support the Sports Club by having a couple of beers in it rather than the local pub as I know that clubs struggle. On entering we were greeted by a lovely barmaid who served us without any problem only to be told five minutes later by a pompous committee man to drink up and leave as we were not members (no offer to sign us in). There was one other person in the club at the time. We then crossed the road to the local bar and were greeted superbly by the hosts, spending around three to four hours with them (and lots of money). As members of a private club we thought we were helping a fellow club but we definitely won't be back and will be telling others to avoid it. What a sorry place!

Hi, I live in Prestwick and i cant understand why you havent mentioned "Elliots" "Caprice" and "Bonne" under your pubs heading. These venues are very modern and stylish in design ,have a great atmosphere and fab food! Not to mention a host of stylish boutiques,"The shoe gallery" "House Room" "Waverley Gallery" "In" "Little VIPs" to mention but a few!Come on you are selling us short!!!

Stevenston, Ayrshire and Arran

Review of Stevenston by frank quinn on May 23rd, 2007
I was born and bred in stevenston but over the years I look and think "where has stevenston gone"?? I visit every year to visit family and to show my children and now my grandchildren where I came from.Where is the stevenston I was brought up in?? Saltcoats & Ardrossan, very much the same,stevenston---disappointing,I could not return there permanently, there have been no developments, there is nothing there. The "Millglen" and "burn" area, could have been improved, "Stevenston loch" is a disgrace,no wild life, polluted completely. What is being done about the area!! I will be back again in August, is there any chance in the near future that the situation will improve.? I am proud to be a"Stevenstonian" but my grandchildren think it is a dump.!! Any chance of an improvement?? p.s. Where has the beaches gone??
