Wisbech is a Market Town in the Cambridgeshire Fens, that has fine Georgian architecture in the Crescent and on the banks of the River Nene. A visit to Elgood’s Brewery that has been brewing since Georgian times will explain the intricacies of brewing, the guided tour shows the various processes including large copper vats, and the best bit of all the tasting… outside there is a four acre garden with 200 hundred year old trees, rockery and even a herb garden. Or perhaps visit Peckover House which has splendid gardens set over 2 acres including a Croquet lawn, pond, a delightful Orangery, and 16th Century Barn that is now home to a coffee shop, inside the house there is a chance to see Butlers Pantry and amazing plasterwork. Or how about the Fenland and West Norfolk Aviation Museum where there is an intriguing collection of weapons, uniforms and fine exhibits of aircraft such as the Dehavilland Vampire, where you can explore the open cockpits and see the Flight Simulator….No visit would be complete without experiencing the beauty of the River Nene, and the lovely Yacht Harbour, or take a seat in the Georgian Angles Theatre which has Drama, Dance and Music performances on offer.
