West Bexington is a small village on the southern coast of Dorset, close to the west of Weymouth and the east of West Bay. The centre of the village is on a hill that leads down directly to Chesil Beach. It is a part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. The beach at West Bexington is a popular launching place for sea fishing. There is a Dorset Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve to the west of the car park, consisting of a shingle beach, wet meadow, reed bed and scrub. The reserve is an excellent spot for bird watchers. There are two popular walking routes, one at West Bexington; Swyre and Puncknowle which is 4.1 miles long and another at Limekiln Hill which is 3.3 miles. There is also a route which combines parts of the two to make a longer 6.2 mile walk. Visitors can stay at The Manor Hotel in West Bexington, situated 400m from the sea and overlooking Chesil Beach. The Manor Hotel is located not far from Bridport, Dorchester and Weymouth. The Manor Hotel was converted from a sixteenth century Manor House with Jacobean oak panelling and flagstone floors and has an excellent reputation for cuisine and service.
