This busy little town in Sussex is 12 miles from Brighton and only 40 miles from London, it’s relatively hilly disposition has much to offer the discerning traveller. There are some strikingly beautiful places such as Borde Hill Gardens set in 150 acres of parkland, dating from the early 1900’s the lakes and planting are perfect, or if you prefer all things rare, visit Nymans Gardens which is home to a unique collection of trees, and a sunken garden, if that’s not enough they also boast an Italian fountain and stunning topiary. This area is packed to the seams with outside wonders, another is Wakehurst Place set in 500 acres and has water gardens to be explored with ponds and lakes. Why not sit on the miniature steam locomotive that travels for almost a mile in Beech Hurst Park, when you alight there is also pitch and putt to try or even an all weather bowls facility. The town has many unusual shops to explore, pleasing walks and cycle paths or even an excellent golf course, if you prefer to get wet then take your ‘cossie’ when you visit the Leisure Centre where swimming is a delight.
