Camden Town is the brightest, busiest playground in London for fans of music, fashion and street culture. Tourists from all over the world flock to join in the fun, which revolves around Camden's six markets - although the Canal Market, gutted by fire in February 2008, has yet to reopen. The others, at Camden Lock, Camden Stables, Buck Street and Inverness Street, as well as roadside stalls, are open every day, selling clothing, footwear, antiques, novelties and arts and crafts items such as jewellery, paintings, ornaments and sculptures. A couple of art galleries are hidden away here, too. At weekends, the markets are packed, and on Sundays, the Electric Ballroom - a club and concert hall - hosts an indoor fashion market. In Camden, it's possible to buy clothes unavailable anywhere else in the UK, from burlesque garments to goth, punk and vintage Fifties designs. The streets are lined with lively bars, restaurants, specialist shops offering everything from comics to tattoos, and venues, including the legendary Roundhouse, to suit every taste in music. Those wishing to escape the crowds for a while may enjoy a gentle walk along the Regent's Canal, past London Zoo, or a boat trip from Camden Lock.
