Our delightful bed & breakfast is located in picturesque rural Northumberland mid way between Morpeth and Alnwick, approximately 20 miles north of Newcastle. The beautiful Victorian Gothic farmhouse is situated at the end of its own meandering drive, approximately one mile from the A1. The neighbouring stone farm buildings have been converted into delightful artists' workshops and boutique-style shops. There is a friendly coffee shop open seven days a week and the Spirit Gallery & Gift Shop open every Saturday and Sunday (and Thursday and Friday during the summer). Coquet Valley Preserves who supply our jam and marmalade are located on site, as is Studley Cottage Soaps who provide us with traditional hand made soap. Five miles away are the beaches of Druridge Bay. Also only a short drive away are the coastal villages of Amble, Alnmouth, Craster, best known for its smoked kippers and salmon, and Dunstanburgh Castle, a picturesque walk along the coast from Craster. The market town of Morpeth is 8.5 miles away. Morpeth boasts many riverside walks which link to Carlisle Park. There is a leisure centre, and a good range of shops and restaurants. A weekly market is held on Wednesday and a farmers' market on the first Saturday of each month. The town of Alnwick, home to Alnwick Castle, the second largest inhabited castle in England, lies 11 miles away. Alnwick Castle and Alnwick Gardens are now open for the summer. There are numerous other stately homes, castles and gardens in the area including, Cragside Estate near Rothbury, Wallington Hall at Cambo, Warkworth Castle, Chillingham Castle, Howick Hall and Belsay Gardens.
