This is the second visit for us and we brought along an additional 10 people plus one 3 month old baby for the Portugal Night. Having recommended the restaurant - its food and its atmosphere and its friendly helpful staff - we were slightly worried it might not be as good as good as the first time we went - but our worries were unfounded - if anything it was BETTER!!! All 12 + baby of us had a brilliant time. The restaurant had prepared tables so we could all sit together and the restaurant was decorated and looked lovely. The buffet food was very good with a lovely green soup and the most wonerfully sweet grilled sardines I think I have ever tasted. We could go up as many times as we wanted and there was a good range of choices from meats, salads, vegetables, sardines and the lovely dressings - including the special HOT CHILLI dressing (our favourite). There was a wonderful Portuguese singer and apart from our table of 12 + baby I think all the guests were Portuguese families and so they all joined in with the singing - and we too attempted to join in with some lalala in place of the Portuguese words. Pretty soon everyone was up dancing and there was a conga and it was so lovely to be in a restaurant that made families welcome as watching the children and teenagers join in helped to make the atmosphere feel even more relaxed. We all will return again to this lovely restaurant - if you want good well cooked Portuguse cuisine in a family atmosphere where your children are welcomed then you simply must give the restaurant a try out. Sunday lunch time is a good time to go and you will find a lot of choices on the menu and staff only too willing to make suggestions. The only tiny thing dissapointing about last night was that I was hoping we might sample those delicious puddings we had eaten on our first visit - the homemade chocolate moose and the dessert made our of condensed milk - its not we were still hungry - its just that they were heaven - still it just means that we will have to go back again... Recommended to us by Adiano Guedes who was born in Portugal as a place to go that had a lovely atmosphere and served good traditional Portuguese food. Went for Sunday lunch around 12.45. The recommendation was spot on - it was great. Lovely friendly staff. A great atmosphere. TV on in the background with Portuguese TV and the other customers were all Portuguese and so it felt as if we were actually in Portugal. Staff very helpful to recommend dishes when we asked for something that was very traditional and we had a wonderful dish of Pork and Clams and Potatoes which we sprinkled over with a great hot chili and olive oil dressing - it was very hot and VERY NICE. Wonderful olives and garlic to start and also Portuguese bread which was lovely to eat and we didnt even bother to use the butter. The most lovely homemade desserts of a homemade chocolate moose and a homemade blamonge made from condensed milk - my husband and I shared and loved them both and if it wasnt for the fact that we were so full from the main course we would have had more dessert. Highly recommended and will be returning again in the very near future with a crowd of our friends who are anxious to taste good authentic Portuguese cooking here in East Anglia. What made the occasion so nice too was that the other customers were Portuguese families with the most well behaved children and a credit to their parents.
