1804 - 1881. Prime Minister and Novelist.
Elected Tory MP candidate for Maidstone in 1837 after four attempts. In 1852 became Chancellor of the Exchequer, Prime Minister in 1868 and again in 1874. Passed laws to prevent labour exploitation and recognise trades unions. Acquired shares in the Suez Canal. Successful novelist, his works included Vivian Grey (1826) and Endymion (1880). Mos famous work is the triology Coningsby (1844), Sybil (1845) and Tancred (1847).
