Good Points: nice people, hard working, dealt with all requests even though hotel was very very busy. good honest pub grub big portions fair prices Bad Points: booked and paid for a family room and requested 4 beds - on arrival room only had 3 beds - an extra bed was put in immediately - very good - charged an extra £20 per night for the bed - bit surprised but not a big deal General review: excellent for what we wanted - a clean, warm, accomodating guesthouse right on doorstep of rugby festival we were attending - will definately book again for next year

It is so refreshing to see this landmark inn returned to it,s former glory of the mid eighties when it was a thriving business. The whole hotel has been upgraded and is very evident by the standard of the fixtures and fittings that no expense has been spared throughout. We had a most enjoyable evening with friends who joined us for dinner in the very elegant surroundings of the restaurant .The food was well cooked with fresh vegetables and nicely presented at a very reasonable price.Well done to the new owners. We will return soon.

Good Points: Breakfast was lovely and fresh, rooms were very clean and well presented, staff were very helpful. Bad Points: The fire alarm had a fault and went off at 5 in the morning, but it didn't last long. General review: I would defintely recommend this hotel and if ever in the area again stay here.

Visited for Sunday Lunch Service was poor.Starters were cold Do not try the vegetarian option. Complaint was greeted with the comment "have you tasted it?". No apology or feedback. Uncomfortably warm.

Good Points: The food in the restaurant was particularly good and the service friendly. Bad Points: Uncomfortable and noisy bed. No bath, just a shower. No phone in room. General review: The bedroom was average. The bed was uncomfortable. It looked a bit dated in the decor. It would have been useful to know that there was only a shower and no bath. There was no phone available in the room. However, the refreshments in the room were above average and the food for dinner and breakfast was very good indeed and the staff all very friendly. Overall a good stay but the rooms need updating.
