A novelist and essayist, the grandson of T H Huxley. His first novels were Crome Yellow (1921), Antic Hay (1923), Barren Leaves (1925) and Point Counter Point (1928). Then came his most famous novel Brave New World (1932). Later works include After Many a Summer (1939) which won him the James Tait Black Memorial Prize, The Doors of Perception (1954), Heaven and Hell (1956) and Island (1962).
