I had an appointment to see the Coronary nurse for my annual check-up, having had the requisite blood sampling at 08:50 on 23/11/09. I left work at 11:55 to travel to the surgury(16 miles,)only to be informed, by the receptionist, that there was no appointment for me even though I had the letter from the nurse detailing both the blood test and follow-up appointmnets. The receptionist apparently contacted the nurse and she told me that "the nurse had an appointmnet to see another gentleman" She stated that an alternative appointment was available for me at 11:300 on 17/12/09 which is not convenient for me as, once again, I will have to had time off form my workplace. In all, I wasted 1 hr 20 mins and travelled 32 miles needlessly. Patient who miss appointment are critisied but there is no comeback for a patient who is treated in the same manner as I was. I need more action than an apology as there was no communication regarding this cancellation, neither telephonic or by letter. A very poor attitude by so called responible persons.
