The people side of the business is generally fine, with some fine and caring staff. The telephone booking system is utter rubbish.

Incredibly rude doctors. If you can find an alternative surgery I'd use it. From drastically different advice to inappropriate jokes topped off by a general lack of caring approach. They made me feel like I was in the way - an inconvenience.

When we moved to the area I’ve checked the NHS website and due to my partners asthma problems i decided that the best practise would be the Blackwater medical Centre. When i called and introduced myself (my name and surname is from the Czech Republic) i've been told that BMC doesn’t cover our area any longer despite advertising on the internet. When the rude receptionist wanted to hung up on me i asked; how is it possible that our neighbours are visiting the very same medical centre? The receptionist said that they have changed the rules! Fair enough... I've given the number to my partner who is British and he called them the very same day, he was given his application form without any hassle !!... Thank you very much!

Was told by the doctor on one visit he wanted to see my daughter as soon as her blood results were back. This happens to be the next day so called the day before to try and get an appointment with dr roper. Although the lady on phone helpful she advised there were no ore- bookable appts avaliable for another 2 weeks. I explained situation and was told dr roper had 1 appt for the next day but I could only ring after 12am on the automataed system or call after 8am on the day. I stayed up till 12.30am and was advised that the automated system was unavilable. Very frustrating system that does not work especially if u want to see the same doctor.

The Clinical excellence of the doctors cannot be faulted - they do care. As for the running of this practice, one can only describe it with one word 'appalling'. The telephone system is a joke. The premium-rate number is, of course, especially designed to make as much profit as possible from the sick and unwell. The 'so-called' NEW appointments system that boasts 'You can make an appointment up to six weeks ahead' is not available. To see a doctor one has to begin telephoning the private Call Centre at 0800hrs, thenlisten to inane musac followed by utterly useless diatribes of jingoistic messages. Normally one is in a 'queue' of over 20 (29 yesterday) and with one call being attended to per minute, such is the number of minutes to wait 'holding' until finally, the receptionist answers. Then begins the real fun when one is told 'Sorry, all available appointments have been allocated'. The entire system is flawed. Secretaries refuse to answer their phones - a machine tells callers to use some three-letter code and leave a message. OK, one decides, I'll bypass the idiotic and VERY EXPENSIVE telephone system (what ever happened to the Hypocratic Oath?) and e-mail my needs. OH NO YOU WON"T! Just try and obtain one. The one given is years out of date (as is the listed geographical telephone number (01621 etc). Any attempt to obtain a correct email address seems to be classed as 'intrusion.' Every, yes every patient I have asked is completely fed-up with the contact system and the overall running of the business (yes business these days) and are at a loss to understand why doctors whose average income is around £100,000 needs to revert to such a penny pinching operation at the expense of their patients. Enough said, I think.

Telephoned on 20th July to order repeat prescription. Got cut off once and on redial whilst waiting to be connected to dispensary call was interrupted by receptionist who gave me another number to dial (which turned out to be a fax number). Dialled original number again and got through after pressing the appropriate number but had to wait some considerable time for the phone to sop ringing and be answered. Placed order. When I visited on 23rd Jly to collect prescription I was told that I had not placed an order since June and no trace could be made. Relayed the about to the counter hand and then had to wait for the order to be dispensed. I trust that the pharmacy service will get better with time!

We moved back to Essex and I joined this surgery at Maldon, I found one lady on reception very helpful and she actioned an appointment for me that same day, I came back from business away to be greeted by another less helpful lady on reception, who didn’t want me to have my appointment and made it hard for me to sign up, it is not up to the receptionist to decide if the patient needs an urgent appointment or not, but having a immune system problem that causes me great stress and problems, I don’t book time off and book appointments willy nilly, she also advised me I couldn’t have a form for my husband to complete the form at home and then sign up, once on my appointment I asked Dr Wright and he said that this was incorrect and I could take a form home for my husband to complete, also the call queues are long, I held on for over 15 minutes, but other options on the call feature are very good

The doctors and and staff in general are helpful, that is if you can ever get through to book an appointment. After two attempts lasting a duration in excess of 4 minutes to book an appointment I gave up.

There was one lady who made my stay very pleasurable. I think her name was Lorna or something... not to sure, anyway she was very polite and helpful. She had a lovely beaming smile which made my day. I think she deserves a raise! If she doesn't work there anymore then you should ring her up and maker her come back just for me! Well done Lorna! :) p.s she had brown hair and brown eyes.
