They had double booked my room and it was only down to luck that another one became available. The room i had was hamilton, it was not in the best of shapes, carpet seemed very worn, what looked like blood on the carpet and it had a very bad smell. The food at the restaurant was cold when received, after complaining they returned a new plate which was again cold! and considering the price i was not best pleased! The staff were nice enough, however the manageress was swearing excessively and very incompetent. Absolutely horrible overall. would not recommend it

we stayed with the cedar house for our anniversary on the 30th of November 2009, the building is breathtaking venu and bolled us over on 1st impression! there was some confusion with our booking and where mortified to find we where not acctually booked in!! but thankfully there was a very nice room available called the nelson we found the room a little tired with marked carpets but it did have a lovely view over to the river and whear. we found the food a little expensive but on the whole very tasty indeed. Even if the restaurant was like a fridge, the manageress was very accomodating and set us a table up right in front of the fantastic open wood burning fire this was quite suficient and made our meal most special. Despite the difficulties we found the place very charming and would like to thank the manageress Lydia and her team for overcoming these difficulties. Katie & Henry

From the outside it looked like a charming surrey hotel but this is not the case. The room was on the ground floor, shockingly shabby, dirty, thread bare carpets and seriously overpriced menu. The food was tasteless and had it been half the price could have been described as average but since it was so expensive i'd describe it as a joke. When we initially tried to arrive a young man was being attacked by a chef and another man in the carpark. We drove on and came back an hour later. The waitress was polite yet clueless and didn't seem to take on board our complaints. As corporate clients we had no choice but to stick it out for the night but we will not be using this hotel again.

We have just spent sat night and sunday morning at Cedar House Hotel in Cobham, we had a wonderful time from start to finish. The service was excellent,we were made very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in was the Hamilton and it over looked The River Mole I believe, very pretty, good tray of goodies in our room,The food was fab and the menu was very good with a mix of some good old traditional things on it. my husband had the baked alaska, what a treat that was.my scallops for starter were amazing.Gary the manager was very knowledgable about the wine and he chose a lovely crisp dry white to accompany the Dover Sole yummy. So yummy in fact we have decided to have my 50th birthday party there in Oct.but i am sure we will be back there before then, thanks to all of the very hard working staff for looking after us Helen and Bob Lowrie
