I spotted a driver of a vehicle, with a registration number M40 WWW, texting whilst driving on the A40 out of London. I waved my finger at him, as a means to let him know that he shouldn't be texting, and he gave me the V sign and mouthed expletives. He began getting extremely irate - presumably at being admonished for something he shouldn't have been doing in the first place. I carried on my journey, slightly bemused at the drivers attitude. Just before the junction with the M25, I was in the outside lane of the M40 when the same car undertook me at 70mph+, swerved in from me, and slammed on his brakes. Luckily, I manged to act quickly enough so as to avoid a collision. The driver turned his head, gave me another obscene hand gesture and started laughing in a crazed fashion. I had my two young daughters in the car with me and they were terrified. The youngest was in tears. As a professional HGV driver myself, I was horrified and appalled at the actions of the driver . It turned out that the car was owned and operated by M40 Cars. In the first instance, I felt that the company should be made aware of the incident, as this driver was obviously a danger to other road users. I therefore sent an email outlining the events to M40 Cars. What I didn't expect in the reply was the vitriol and aggressive attitude from the proprietor, a Mr Craig White. He said that the driver had given a completely different account and that I should not contact the company again. He made no reference to the fact that his driver was texting whilst driving, an illegal act, no mention of his driver undertaking me on a motorway, another illegal action, and no mention of his driver slamming on his brakes in front of me, an extremely dangerous and frightening manoeuvre. I replied that, fortunately, I had a dash mounted camera that caught his driver undertaking me, swerving in front of me, and slamming on the brakes. It also caught the drivers apparent elation at scaring us to death. To date, I have not heard back from Mr White. Understandably, I wouldn’t want anybody I know to use this company, especially whilst this particular driver is still on the road.
