My visit coincided with the pub's regular Sunday afternoon live music spot. The place was very busy; and the atmosphere was brilliant! Before joining the music lovers in the main bar, I squeezed into the packed restaurant and had a very nice (and reasonably priced!) Sunday roast. The staff were friendly and helpful - A great pub n.b. The meal I had couldn't have been more different from that experienced by your unfortunate reviewer back in 2010! The portions were generously sized; the food was excelently coooked/well presented, and (especially considering how mentally busy they were!) the service was excellent. (I managed to get literally the last free seat in the restaurant. Good music - good food - good staff; I'm definitely going back there!

Quite literally the worst Sunday lunch I have ever had the misfortune to experience, especially for the price. Two roast dinners and two glasses of orange juice cost £21. The orange juice was the best part, in a reasonably sized glass, however the staff forgot we had ordered it and we had to remind them ten minutes later. Now, regrettably, I should move on to the food itself. The menu repeats the words 'homemade' and 'locally sourced' quite often, but it isn't shown when it arrives at the table. We were served a single small dish of vegetables for the two of us, and the carrots, beans and cauliflowers all had the look and taste of frozen vegetables that had just been warmed up; locally sourced from the nearest Tesco perhaps. That goes for the Yorkshire pudding as well, and that was tiny, cold and looked quite pathetic, like a cat that just been stuck outside in the rain and now needs sympathy. The meat was of an even lower standard. We had beef and lamb and both were competing with each other to look the most limp, dried up and unappetizing. Unfortunately, it tasted exactly as it looked: disappointing. I've saved the potatoes for last because they were the biggest travesty of what I will begrudgingly call my meal. Cold, soggy, greasy, and worst of all they weren't even slightly brown. Unless they were anaemic, I would never have imagined that roast potatoes could come out of the oven bright white. I'll say it again because I can't quite believe at myself, not even slightly brown. What any member of staff was thinking when they handed over our plate is beyond me I have eaten in many many pubs and restaurants in my time and I have never eaten such disappointing food. I know good food when I eat it. I also know really really bad food when I eat it. I don't even feel the need to rate this place out of ten. You can work that one out for yourself.
