Good Points: beautiful quiet surroundings. helpful polite warm staff. lovely room. adequate tea coffee etc.lovely view. Bad Points: toilet not flushing properley. had bar meal in the pub, mixed grill. seemed as though it had been thrown together, tough and tasteless not worth £13.95. when we asked the younger barman if we could book a table was told quite abruptly they were full, end of. the mature barman/manager? overheard and asked us if we wanted the meal at the pub table which was fine by us. General review: very peaceful and relaxed stay. nice to see the history of the hotel included in the guest info. The meal at the end of a stressful day was very disappointing. The directions with the online booking were quite vague. overall would recommend.

Good Points: Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Bad Points: Initial room we were allocated had a shower which would not work. This could not be quickly fixed so we moved rooms. General Review: Really liked the first room we were allocated but the shower would not work. The duty manager, Dave, was really helpful and moved us to an even better room for our stay. Although it is never nice to have to uproot and move rooms, the duty manager did all he could to make sure we were looked after.

Purely an accidental find most Americans will never experience. Too bad for them! Of two weeks touring Great Britain, our night at this fantastic, affordable find was a very high point, of many high points along the way. Very much looking forward to a return trip soon. Next time for more than a one night stay.
