I am in a local band and booked to play the castle arms on the 2/8/08. On arriving we were met with the rude geers and unhelpfull sarcatic comments, and that was from the bar staff. Being professionals we set up and played our set, ignoreing the locals shouts and taunts. Three songs in I had to ask the landlord to turn off the in house music which was blaring over our set. On finishing our set a very drunk landlord and landlady approched us with a mob of drunk locals shouting and screaming that we had not played long enough and that we had no chance of getting paid. This drunken argument spilled into the car park and I what I can only describe being chased out. We had to get the gear into the van and get out of there before a full blown riot kicked off. Having not taken a deposit for this gig we left totally out of pocket. To any band that reads this or for anyone for that matter, this pub is filthy, full of locals drunks, rude bar staff and probably the worst landlord and landlady ever. I would urge everyone not to go and spend one penny in this pub. Go to www.myspace.com/riskyheroes.com to hear our music.
