WELL WHAT CAN I SAY :- another great camping trip to HALES HALL, this is the third time we have been here camping and still have nothing bad to say, everything is just perfect, the staff are kind and very helpful, the toilet blocks and dish washing area is very clean and tidy and from last year they have added a new laundry room which is helpful if needing to wash or dry clothes. There is a small pond at the bottom of the campsite which is now well maintained by the owners and has different types of ducks, my son and daughter were well impressed, especially when the staff from Hales Hall actually took time out to talk too them about the ducks and answer all their questions. We use this campsite for the purpose of alton towers and like to do the 2 day pass and its only a 10 min drive and when we come back from the park we just chill have a laugh, maybe a wee walk round the pond and feed the ducks and as long as your not too noisy, a few drinks at your tent, we have sat outside till early hours and giving respect to others keeping the noise to minimal we have never been asked to keep the noise down. If you are actually sensible about this then there would be no problem between other campers, purely commonsense...Respect others the way you like to be respected!!! Also I would like to take time to thank the owners and their staff for a brilliant time at their campsite, you do all work very hard and it is a non stop job maintaining and cleaning. "WELL DONE HALES HALL" maybe see you next year.....

After reading the negative reviews, i can honestly say we had a super time at Hales Hall. The staff were friendly and very hard working making sure the site was clean and tidy. As well as ensuring the gardens/flowers were looking well. Be very careful of the taxi's though - they claim to come from Stoke and charge from there. We got a taxi about 1 mile away and the driver tried to charge £12, oh and also made Rita at Alton Towers look like a merry go round. So much so my children asked if the driver was drunk and trying to kill us. I had to insist he slowed down. We paid him £10 though this was way over the top and he told us not to book his taxi again 77777 - so you have been warned. This site is an allrounder and there are young and old there. If you want peace and quiet 24/7 then you may be disappointed. There are some young groups who like to party, but they are usually placed on the first field, so we did get too disturbed. All in all a very easy going place where kids can play happily ans safely.

we booked hayles hall for a two night stay, looked ok on the internet...wrong. absolutely nothing to do. small play area,( ok if you have small children) thats it! there is a big old house there with a so called games room,(2 pool tables). there is also on site a man in a burger bar. £54 for a two night stay which i think is scandalous, we came back after 24 hours. never again.

What a site - wouldn't recommend here to anyone. Like said in previous comments, the owner of the site is very rude and tried to be intimidating when we made a complaint. Small play area - club house is neither use nor ornament - burger van is great but could have done with a proper meal - washing facilities are outside under a shelter. Price is far too expensive as well for the facilities that are available on site. Go to the Star at Cotton if you want to be near to Alton Towers.

As a group of friends with children of varying ages we welcome the opportunity to meet up and socialise whilst our children can play in safety. The site is very clean with a play area for children.Toilet block is clean and cleaned regularly. The price is slightly high especially when staying for two nights and our first experience in JULY was very pleasant. Our second experience was fine also until on our second night we were woken at 3.30am by a group of extremely ignorant and vile people who thought it would be funny to shout out obscenities and comments suchas "lets wake the neighbours". When reporting to the owners they did deal with it quite promptly but I do find it hard to believe the owners who stay in a caravan at the top of the field did not hear a thing !! We and a group behind us did complain and we were offered a goodwill refund. However I would advise when booking ask if groups are to be near you and if so ask to be put near to other families as there is two fields. No one is a kill joy but the assumption that just because one is mid forties you can no longer have fun is ignorance personified We would re visit as it is well placed and maintained and excellent for a staycation. The owners are clearly trying to improve the previous issues of the site.

I have to say we have had a rather unpleasant experience staying at Hales Hall campsite. Though the pub onsite had a great atmosphere and some very friendly and welcoming staff, the staff at the actual campsite were incredibly rude and offensive. We arrived as a group of ten 20-30 year olds and were told we were welcome as a group, and were guided to a pitch towards the back of the campsite where we would not disturb anyone. However, in the morning after a complaint of noise during the night which was immediately pinned on us, we were very rudely told to vacate the campsite. Not only this, but after being forced to dish out a £20 deposit for each bathroom key, they then refused to refund any of our deposits due to our supposed bad behaviour. I would strongly recommend anyone under the age of 50 to avoid this campsite as the owners clearly treat us with a complete lack of respect and blatant prejudice.

We camped at Hales Hall on the 5th August, supposed to stay 2 nights but ended up booking another night, we had a fantastic time here. The owners and staff were brilliant, most helpful and very hard working keeping the site clean and tidy. The shower and toilet block was immaculate and cleaned regularly (i would say more than 4 times a day), although some young girls using this facility could very easily use the bin provided for their used makeup apllicators rather than leave them around the sink areas, they wouldn't do it in their own home so why do it here!!! The owners and staff can't do it enough to keep everywhere clean and should not have to pick up this sort of rubbish. There is a pub onsite and a shop which is open in the mornings, you can get a hot roll in the morning and a play area for the children. The site was very busy and everyone who was staying here were very friendly and all seemed to be having a great time. I would definately recommend this site to anyone and would return myself next year when going to Alton towers as it is only a 10 mins drive away. "WELL DONE HALES HALL" for a great time

What a shock to hear that some one had a bad experience at Hales Hall. I took a friend and his two nephews with us as we had tickets for Alton Towers that weekend. Instead of traveling for the day I took my caravan so we could have a good rest. I was glad we were not accepted onto the Other camp site down the road because of having more than three males sharing. I was pleased that this site was recommended to me as I am a respectful guy and hold a good job. I found this a disgrase not being allowed enrty. How ever as we settled into the camp site we found the area clean tidy and the staff were realy helpful. I think that other guy must of been in another site? I am about to re-book another break with more of my friends only because of the great time we had. We all look forward to our weekend and hope that other people are not put off by this mans comments. Why not try it for your self and have a fab stay. We are returning in September if we get a place.

I have just read the review written by Miles W S Brennan and i feel i must comment on the terrible review he has written about Hales Hall Caravan & Camping Park. As stated in my first review i visited this park the same weekend as this man and i did not find the owners rude or aggressive infact as i said they were very warm and welcoming. yes there was a small problem with the water within the toilet block but we still had water on the touring field and the problem was sorted out very quickly to say it was Easter sunday!!!! Our electric did go off while we there once but the owners came straight down to us and put the problem right, but saying this i did have alot of electric appliances going at the time the electric went off. Yes i agree the hall could do with some TLC but this should not reflect on the owners of the caravan park due to the fact that they do not own it. My family and i enjoyed our stay at the caravan park (including my children who played on the park)as i said in my first review, perhaps this man Miles should think about quitting touring caravans and try staying in a 5 star hotel because he does not seem to know the fun of caravanning!!!!!!!!

we arrived to the park on saturday bank holiday weekend, we thought the staff were very friendly and helpful, the toilet block was immaculate, they were cleaned every hour i reckon, there was always someone cleaning them throughout the day which was nice to see... we will be definatley going there next bank holiday as it is a child friendly park with a play area and football pitch for the boys, (which kept them entertained whilst we were at the museum across the road) i would recommend this caravan park to familys definatley with Alton Towers being 5 minutes up the road.

The new owners took over in September last year and use the fact that they are new as an excuse for anything that goes wrong. We arrived to be told that we were not booked in, despite having emails confirming our dates etc. The cost for a caravan/awning/electrics and 2 children under 10 was £34/night - I told them that I thought this was extortionate, and they replied it was cheaper than all the other sites in the area - the Manageress marched up to me the next day with copies of other local sites tariffs saying "here you go" - I looked at them and quickly calculated that they would have been £25.50 and £27.00. She had not even bothered to check. This was typical of the attitude. The site had a new toilet block, which was OK, although the hot water did fail while we there - nobody's fault. There were 3 hot showers per gender, with 1 hook and no seat it mean't that you had little chance of keeping anything dry. The site is slightly sloping and reasonably dry - but the electrics were woefull. We could not boil a kettle without tripping the MCB (5 times per boil), it had 10amp MCB's - I suspect it was more likely rated at 4-6amps - all of our neighbours had the same problem. We complained 4 times and were told somebody would look at it - NOTHING happened, when challenged on leaving the Manageress and staff just kept saying "Oh it is our first year and we are learning". Some of the plug sockets onto the switch boxes were hanging off and most of the doors were cracked The site is not child friendly there is a ramshackled play area with a couple of swings, and no other amenities - I am not sure it warrants a "play area" icon. The club/bar does not belong to the site, but is on-site in a small mansion house. It is filthy dirty with huge cobwebs and a hundred year layer of dust - we went in, and came out again - never to venture near the place again !! The shop/cafe - is also filthy dirty with a layer of dust/grease over everything. Overall - the site needs a lot more work, the electrics need revamping and at least checking for safety ! They need Management & Staff that know what they are doing and how to deal with their customers; they were aggressive and very rude when we said that they had not solved the problems during our stay As you can tell we WILL NOT be going back ! The area is beautiful - but find yourself another site - try STAR or similar.

Arrived at the caravan park to find a very warm welcome from the park owners. (found out that the caravan park is under new mangament)Very pleased with the toilet blocks, which had been refurnished they were clean every time me and family used them.We have visited the park before under the old owners so its amazing what new owners can inject into the buisness. It is an ideal location to visit Alton Towers and surrounding area's. We will be using the park again infact we have already booked for May day weekend. So please keep the good work up

we visited the site hales hall on the 28th of feb 2009 with family who own a carvan on the site, we found the surounding area to be still under going adjusments an with help from the visitors i think the site will be a fun place to be. at night the view is amazing an spectacular. There are a few things need to be done on the site but with time i think this camp site will be modernised an upto clean standards. There are a few people on the site already which we found them very outgoing an very pleasant. There is also a pub with games room for the children , the pub looks as it has much history behind it an it was quite an interesting experience an we are looking forward to going back to the site in the near furture. sarah, nicky taylor

********* UNDER NEW MANAGMENT ********* This campsite was taken over towards the end of the camping season last year by Mr & Mrs Wood. Since then there has been several changes taken and still currently taking place to the site. One main adjustment is the Refurbishment of the Toilet/Shower facilities, as too there has been several old very large trees removed thus brightening the area. Car paking areas are also currently being added and the roads around the site dug out so not quite so 'rugged'. Changes shall continue and all for the better also in the distant futre the campsite shall have its own 'Web Site' up and running. Hope this helps anyone wishing to visit, and we hope to see you very soon.

I have being visiting this site for the past three years. in 2006 i will admit the toilets and showers were discusting but as i was told they were looking for someone to fill the position of cleaner at the time and had struggled all season to fill it. By the start of the season in 2007 they had secured two very friendly cleaners to work for them. throughout the past two years there have only been a few problems with the cleanliness of the toilets due to mud off the fields when it rained quite heaviliy and of course you cant expect the cleaners to sit in the toilets all day to keep them spotless to stop the odd posh person complaining. ill be honest here, the mess made is made by other campers so you cant really have a moan at the cleaners because they probably are only going to clean what they are paid for. but i wouldnt recommend this site to people who like a great deal of luxury because that what hotels are for not tents and caravans. this site is a real campsite because its got a rustic and fun charm about it. a piss up weekend with the lads or an adventuous family trip or just somewhere cheap to stay to go alton towers. that what this campsite is about, you can get a bus straight through to alton towers at the bottom of the drive. or if towers aint your thing, you can go for a nice walk around Hales hall fishing pool. id recommend this place in a heartbeat its so full of soul and beautiful surroundings. I go regularly now.

this site is great . we have loads of fun on here we visit the site alot through the year. but the new owners have took over and yes they are very nice people and are cleaning the site but they are very expensive and alot of people will not be coming back to the site. they are removeing the regualrs by out priceing them . i think this is not fair on the regulars, dont they relise that is these people who keep the regular cash coming in to the site.

Just had a very enjoyable stay at this campsite. Location is ideal for Alton Towers, and pitches are good. Although it was busy, there was still space for a family game of rounders. Nice friendly shop & cafe, serving rolls, tea, etc, open 8-10am. On the downside, the showers & WC are basic and not cleaned often, and the bins weren't emptied while we were there. It is a bit rundown and untidy. It was noisy until about 1am most nights, although it was probably a busy weekend.

only living a few minutes down the road in cheadle i decided to try the campsite. it is in a very nice area. the drawbacks r the poor wash rooms i thought they were unnacceptable and the fact the pool was shutdown. the bar area is run down and could do with doing up. it is not the best campsite i have ever been 2 but definitely the most expensive. i will definitely go back this summer despite this!

There can be no excuse for the dirt and filth and general grime at this HOVEL. We paid over £60 to stay here in August 2007, and if we could have got a refund we would have left. We are not a family with a lot of money so we needed to pick somewhere that had all the facilities included, hence we picked Hales Hall. The pool was freezing and dirty, the toilets looked like they had never had a proper clean for months. And as for the bar and entertainment, that was a joke. We were kept awake until the early hours of the morning for 2 out of the 3 night we were there, with teenagers with the car stereos blaring and revving up there car engines. we tried to call the staff/owners but there was no answer. We left very tired - never to retun.

I live in bury lancashire so hales hall camp site is only one huor and bit drive away from home myself and some fr iends visited the site on two occasions and found the site very satisfactory the toilets and shower block were clean and tidy we where given key to use the facillity and this at the time appeared to be the norm the location of the site should make it quite obvious that from time to time things can becom a little untidy and seeing as how the owner provides a key for the use of the responsible user should clean up after themselves

August was the first time i have ever been camping, and im a bit of a girly girl and i thought id hate it....I sat in the car while my mum and dad set the tent up because it was cold and dark, but then saturday night came and we went to the bar onsite where there was kareoke and it was BRILL!! We had lots of fun singing and having a laugh!! Ever since, the weather has been rubish so we haven't been able to go but we will be there again in May! And i cant wait its so fun and there is lots of facilities around, the town isn't that far away and neither is alton towers and then there is Les Oakes Factory, me and my friend went to have a look at the site and we were amazed at what things we saw...So overall Hales Hall is ther place to be...:)

A groupe of us booked in to Hales Hall caravan park and were very discusted of the place. The toilets and shower block were really dirty and we had to clean them our selves. The bar was not clean and nobody was friendly. We had no sleep on our first night because of around 20 teenagers drinking and having a party with their car sterios on full blast till around 4am and they were screaming and shouting showing no respect to other campers. The owners failed to come out and sort out any problems. After the first night we were so fed up that we booked our selves in to a lovely hotel for the rest of our stay. Hales Hall would be a lovely place if the owners made more of an effort to do the place up more modern and clean it more regulary. At the moment I think the place is a waste of money.

we started to visit hales hall 3 years ago as it is only 30 mins away, the site is quite big there is a fishing pool (5 mins walk) good size tiolets with 2 or 3 showers in each, female block on its own and male block on its own, niether are checked and cleaned regulary enough, i walked in the toilet/shower block on one occasion to discover a lady and her daughter with a cloth and mop picking up mess and wiping the sinks and cleaning the floor, when i said it was about time that the block was cleaned the lady said "i don't work here, someone has just got to do something and we're here for 4 more days!" for 2 days before that and you could tell that no one working there had been in at all to clean them! The pub on there is a bit dated but very friendly food is good and well priced, 4 dish washing points, plenty of freshwater points. Across the road is a memorial museum (very interesting) and Alton Towers is quite near, i don't think that the prices are that good, just beacause its "quite near" to Alton Towers dosn't mean everyone is going to visit there! Also its the dearest charge i have ever known just to put a gazebo up with your own pitch! So now i can use my computer and the internet, there are many sites which have BETTER facililties, CLEANER TOILETS, and better VALUE FOR MONEY !!!!!! SO SORRY HALES HALL WE WILL BE SAVING SOME MONEY THIS YEAR.

excellent, we had a great time at hales hall, good food great people and a cheap site, when you camp you dont want 5 star accomadation, just a relaxed atmosphere unlike the star camp site where you have to get permission to breath!ok washrooms could do with a lick of paint but at the end of the day its a washroom..... well done hales hall see you again in august 2006.

This site has truly great potential but is sadly let down by the owners. It has been terribly neglected and in desperate need of tlc. The old house is now a bar which is rather dirty and could do with a refit. We didn't venture into the swimming pool. Apart from this the staff were all very friendly and welcoming and as it is in such a good location for Alton Towers and the moorlands we would visit again - if only to see if there have been any improvements.
