Todays date is 8/8/12 so as you may realise we are still on site.Since we found this site 4 years ago,we have also visited many others, but none, have the welcome that we always receive here, and never fail to appreciate how important we are made to feel. One example:Due to being diagnosed with a serious condition(I had to contact the site and cancel my holiday, thereby losing my deposit)I receved a very nice reply from the daughter of the owner, wishing me a speedy recovery, and informed me that they would honour my deposit until later in the year.under the circumstances.Which be lieve me helped my recovery no end. I attended at reception and spoke to the lady I beleive to be the daughter of the owner, and she not only recalled our visit from last year, but recalled the circumstances of our delayed holiday. That to me is a personal touch, and that of a truly family run company, who respect and look after their visitors. To top it all I explained that I was having a problem with my wi-fi,probably caused by my ignorance of computers, she not only asked for her wifi company to check their system, but asked the engineer to actually attend at our caravan, and set everything up for me. I have stayed at many site but none with such a fantastic homely, and family atmosphere,I for one, would recomend this site to any adult only caravanners, thank you for a very special holiday, and I genuinely hope that the ownwers read these reviews and see how much their efforts are appreciated.Thank You

I do not recommend this site at all. Super Pitch.........mmmmmmmmmmmmm I don't think so. Rules, rules rules. Don't go on the grass, park straight, no visitors with children blah blah blah. I cannot stress enough how annoyed the owners made us. Having made our kids (16 month s and 3.5yrs) wait in a car for an hour whilst our pitch was being vacated (plenty of other pitches available - and remained available throughout week), we were to to leave as complaints about kids. Other children were on site, but no flexibility. Had food in cafe. Mistake. Expensive and un-inspiring. Next to the busy A381 which can be heard clearly inside a caravan at night.

Being just one of many regular visitors to this park,we've just returned from our 3rd break there this year and didn't think it could get much better as it has always been a great park with a fantastic atmosphere, but since going "adults only" the peace and quiet is totally undisturbed during the day and even the excellent evening entertainment is better because it's not marred by the inevitable shouting and crying of young tired children.I have nothing against children,I work with them and actually used to be one myself but it's nice to have a holiday without them sometimes. There's another bonus too - there are now bargain breaks during July and August - can't be bad can it? Everything else is just good as always - owners, office staff and wardens are as friendly and helpful as ever - the restaurant serves reasonably priced delicious home made meals and the utilities are always kept spotlessly clean. What more can anyone ask for? It's a great site which is why we've been regular visitors for the past 8 years and can't wait for our next holiday.

I have just been looking at parks in this area for this year and noticed that Widdecombe Farm has become adult only. I would agree with the other reveiws that if you have children then the staff are very rude to you and the children. I would not recommend this park to any adults and beleive the people running Widdecombe should take time off and go on a course for people skills. The to men who serve behind the bar are totally rude and should not be serving. Why have they taken money off families over the years if they are not welcome.

i have alreday put a review on the site regarding this park, but i feel i must add to it. today i was informed by the park in a general mail shot letter that the park is going to be now an adult only site from sept this year. even though we had a nice stay there i do agree that the owners and staff were very much against children then. begin in a area with high tourism and familes begin attracted to the area i feel what a very bad decision the park has made. Of course they run a businesss and they have the right to do run it as they see fit. i get the feeling everyone at the park thinks children are monsters, which indeed they are not. everyone was a child once and i am sure alot the staff are grandparents and parents themselves. i would not recommend this park to anyone now even adults only. i would like to see if anyone shares my views in writing a review too.....

we found everyone friendly, we had a huge problem with our car and everyone was helpful and we were able to store our caravan there for two weeks and come back and stay for bank hol weekend and we took the van back home... The site showers were always hot and clean and Poppy`s Resturant did a very very good breakfast, the resturant staff were friendly but we did notice that when they get busy the service was not so good and the staff just didnt seem bothered, and moaned to customers that they were busy. i heard a comment from a staff member who forgot to bring some toast and he said we are busy there is nothing i can do about it. As for children friendly i agree from other reviews that the impression we got that children really shouldnt be there, everywhere in the bar there were notices do`s and dont`s, and it was uncomfortable sitting in the bar so we left . Yes it is on the ring road but we found short cuts to torquay and paignton if you go back up the otherside of ring road. Overall we enjoyed it but they could be more family friendly

How this site can say it is family friendly is unbelievable! The poor kids arn't allowed to do anything. The park is rubbish and the kids kept getting thrown out for the stupidest of reasons, and the field for ball games is situated at the very top of the farm next to a duel carriage way and when our kids went to play there they were thrown out by one of the grumpy old men who constantly roam around looking for reasons to tell you off!! The bar area is seperated by an iron grid the largest side closest to the bar is for the o.a.p's the family side is tiny and you have to climb over the crammed in tables and chairs to get in and out! i'm just glad there wasn't a fire cause we wouldn't have stood a chance! Th entertainers (if you can call it entertainment)were for the o.a.p's and even stood with their backs to us all night! The pitches were tiny and you were mixed in with people with dogs so you had lovely packages left on the very small bits of grass you did have every morning!! The staff were rude and grumpy and took every opportunity possible to moan at the poor kids and even us adults!! It felt as though we were staying in colditz !! Would only recommend if you are over 80 and dont like to enjoy yourself!! Only reason we stayed was because we couldn't get our money back!

good points: very clean, good food in poppy's cafe, good entertainment. bad points: families situated in field furthest away from showers and toilets, site situated on busy ring road and you can only turn left out of site so no option but to sit in traffic for up to half an hour at a time to get into torquay, wouldn't recommend for families but certainly for adults only as their pitches much better and better situated, sorry but wouldn't go back for that reason.

The camp site was easy to find, very clean, the restaurant and the staff were very friendly and the food superb. Also had difficulty putting in tent pegs and a very helpful warden came and helped me. The down side to this site is that although it proclaims to be child friendly it really isnt that much when you get there, the games room was a joke and very dingy, the bar was also uninviting as the segregation of adults/families was quite off putting. on arrival you were instructed with much precision how you must park and put awning up etc and that you must not let children enter the adult only part of the bar. I also did not like the fact that the awning was to be erected upon gravel making it unpleasant to walk over and use, I found it extreme that all over the site there are large notices telling you what to do and not to do surely this didnt have to be so in your face. I certainly would not recommend this site or indeed visit again.

This is the cleanest site we have ever been on. It is good value as well. However if you have children you won't enjoy it here. The bar is small but alright. The site is best suited for OAP's. The entertainment in the bar is varied in that all the singers sing the same songs but are of a vastly different standard. The singer on the Friday night was appalling. He sounded like a poor kareoke artist and told jokes badley often boarder line racist. Thelma, the owner did not seem to mind though even when we mentioned our concerns. The magician was excellent though. Just a shame children arn't made to feel welcome in the clubhouse so they could enjoy him. All of the site is aimed to the elderly this is not a site for anyone under 60. My holiday was spoilt by the atitude of the some of the staff(Tony, Gordon, Thelma), the racist comedian, and the fact that due to the sites location on the inland side of the bypass you can't safely walk/cycle into Torquay or Paignton. I'll wait till I retire in 30 years before I go back. I might be made to feel welcome then!

Widdecombe farm is the best site I have ever been to. A friendly park, that is quiet and spotlessly clean. All facilities are cleaned regularly. The bar is small but has a great atmosphere with great entertainers. The drinks are very reasonably priced. It also has a small shop and onsite restaurant that serves breakfast and delicious evening meals. We visited last summer during the wettest week of the year, when half of britain was flooded and the english riviera was kind to us we had hardly any rain.We were recommended to have a hard standing pitch and had no probs at all. We will be going back for our third year this summer, I love it and wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

First of all, I would like to disagree entirely with the previous review. There is more than one chemical waste point, I counted at least two. I did not have the need to explore the entire site. During the previous reviewers visit, there were flash floods, and severe weather warnings, and I do not blame the owners on their decision to close the park - it is for the children's safety. The bar is excellent, with some very good entertainers, and the karaoke was particularly good. The owners and staff all try very hard to make the place pleasant for everybody from children through to OAPs, and it does state you can let your children play in a designated field away from where people may be trying to rest etc. The park is ideally situated for Torquay, Paignton and Newton Abbott, and not at all far from the other key areas in South Devon, e.g. Brixham, Dartmouth, Teignmouth. To all at Widdecombe Farm > Thank you for an excellent holiday, we all had an excellent time and found your hospitality exceptional.

This site should be advertised as adult only, the worst camping holiday we have ever experinced, where shall we start.... there is only 1 chemical waste point (we had to walk about half a mile for this oh and your not allowed to use your car as transport for this. Children are not allowed bikes, scooters, balls, skate boards ect.in other words children are not allowed to have any fun what so ever. The club house/bar is great if you are an o.a.p and they close at strange times. The park gets closed if it gets wet. we cut our stay short could not stand a day longer there.
