Born 1939 – English actor.
Film debut was in Billy Budd (1962), brought him an Academy Award nomination and international attention. Subsequent films included The Collector (1965), Modesty Blaise (1966), Far From The Madding Crowd (1967), Poor Cow (1967) and The Mind of Mr. Soames (1970). In 1999 he won acclaim for his performance in The Limey. Also a writer and author, has published three volumes of his memoirs, a novel and a cookbook.
