Very much enjoyed our stay here. The hotel perfectly met our needs and was excellent value for money. We hadn't realised the breakfast was a full breakfast and were pleasantly surprised by that ! Staff were lovely and very friendly. The Rose Restaurant is only open for special occasions which we hadn't realised; this was not a problem but a bit misleading and meant that eating in was in the pub. Food etc. here was excellent and again good value but on two occasions there were a number of parties with young children who were a 'being children' at a time when, as middle aged adults looking for peace and quiet, we would have preferred an escape route ! So that did put us off eating there towards the end of the week when families would be having time out. (We were not the only residents who found this tricky.) Still, we were overall delighted with the hotel - room very pleasant, well maintained - and although we would usually prefer to go self catering, looking at prices for further trips would most certainly have Oaklands Lodge high on our list.
