Buckinghamshire Reports

County Review by phil on January 26th, 2006
the best bit of buckinghamshire is, in my opinion, the chiltern hills which are glorious any time of year but especially in the autumn. The colours are breathtaking and the numerous villages scattered around are a bit like revisiting olde england! Great great pubs too

Bledlow Ridge, Buckinghamshire

Review of Bledlow Ridge by Vicky Lindsey on February 2nd, 2006
I didn't know that Bledlow Ridge existed until my daughter and family moved there. It's a fantastic place to live and what is so great is that it is a very family friendly area. Where there are Mums - there are children - so that means lots of friends! The boys go to a lovely school and they are doing so well. The childrens' park has been bought up to date and looks fantastic and the views are beautiful. I can't think of many places left in this country that come up to the standards of Bledlow Ridge.

Haddenham, Buckinghamshire

Review of Haddenham by Christine Clements on May 12th, 2009
Happiest days of my life were spent in Haddenham ... from the age of newborn (1939)to 8 years old ... every year, until I was 18 my mother and I returned to the Rose and Thistle for a couple of weeks holiday .. she had mad many friends there, the Birches, the Greens,Olivers, Kemps, Makepieces, Hydes, Knelmes (wrong spelling!) ... we lived in those years on Station road. It was the sweetest place to live and still holds many happy memories, so lovely with the villiage pond .... I remember finding newts there and of course Pond Close where we would picnic and fish for sticklebacks with homemade nets. Although living in Australia it still has an indescribable pull (last visited in 2003) and I am left with a yearning to see it again and I'm hoping to visit again with my daughter (who is 33 years old) and stay at the Rose and Thistle.

Latimer, Buckinghamshire

Review of Latimer by Wyn Marston on August 23rd, 2011
In my capacity as Operations Manager at Elevation Learning, I have been involved with running courses at Latimer for over 16 years. Latimer provide an exceptionaly good service and work with us as partners to enable us to provide the high quality service our clients expect. In a personal capacity, Latimer enabled me to host a special birthday - all my friends and family were very impressed. Family members have since returned to Latimer for their own special celebrations. Thank you to all the team at Latimer! They couldn't do a better job.

Old Amersham, Buckinghamshire

Review of Old Amersham by Anne P Shaw on April 22nd, 2007
I found old Amersham to be an attractive, interesting countryside town in close proximity to London. There are various restuarants along the main/side streets. I stayed on a busines trip at the Kings Arms Hotel - a newly refurbished, olde world yet modern, attractive and very comfortable hotel. I would recommend both hotel and the town to everyone!

Have been to other pubs in the area, but the king william offers somthing new, fresh looking but traditional, we just popped in for a drink but stayed for a beechdean ice cream, nice not to feel you have to have a 3 course meal. food looked good and the kids loved the play area out the back......................we are planning a night out

Winslow, Buckinghamshire

Review of Winslow by Florence St Laurence on May 18th, 2008
While the staff at the hotel were quietly efficient they were largely unfriendly. We wondered why no one smiled in Winslow... We soon found out... At 8pm a band started playing in the george pub 10 yards across the narrow street. It was still playing reggae music when we decided to pack our bags and leave at 1:30 in the morning and the pavement outside was crowded with smoking and shouting drunks. We even noticed the unmistakeble smell of cannabis as we passed them. Winslow seems a nice town but there is a recklessness about it that will stop us from ever visiting or staying again!
