BOOK SURREY HOTELS

Vale of Holmsdale, Surrey | Kent

Vale of Holmsdale
The Vale of Holmesdale is a valley located in the counties of Surrey and Kent in south east England. The name Holmsedale is said to derive from the Holm Oak, a non-indigenous evergreen oak, which was once common in the area. The narrow valley is at the foot of the North Downs and lies mainly on Gault Clay with some areas of chalk. A section of the River Medway flows along the Vale, which it also shares with the headwaters of the River Stour . The Guildford - Redhill railway line runs along the Vale of Holmesdale between Gomshall and Reigate .
