River Meon, Hampshire

River Meon
The River Meon flows through an area of Hampshire in southern England known as the Meon Valley. Rising approximately one mile (1.6 km) south of the village of East Meon it flows as a chalk stream and heads generally southwards out of the South Downs . It widens before it joins the Solent after a 21 mile (34 km) journey. As it approaches the Solent at Titchfield the river flows for around two miles (3 km) through the marshes of the Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve . The river then enters The Solent at the small harbour at Hill Head.
