Porthor, North Wales
Porthor is a stretch of National Trust owned beach and coastal path
that is situated on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. The beach is
famous for the Whistling Sands, which got their name because the
grains of sand squeak when walked on. There is three miles of path
take you from the beach and onto the high headland and cliffs at
Anelog. On a clear day the spectacular view from the cliffs can
include Snowdonia, Anglesey and even Ireland. The sandy beaches are
popular with surfers and bodyboarders because of the strong swells and
the way the waves break.
