Ivinghoe Beacon is a hill that lies in the
Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, close to the county border with
Bedfordshire . It is a prominent landmark standing at 757 ft above sea level. It is not, however, the highest point of the Chilterns, which actually occurs a few miles to the west of Invinghoe Beacon at Coombe Hill near
Wendover . Ivinghoe Beacon is close to the villages of
Ivinghoe and Aldbury in Buckinghamshire and the village of Little Gaddesden in
Hertfordshire . It is part of the
Ashridge Estate and is owned by the
National Trust . Ashridge Commons and Woods and the Ivinghoe Hills have been designated Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs).
