Oxwich Bay is situated the south of the
Gower Peninsula , which is itself in the south western part of Wales. The varied and beautiful landscape of the bay includes a two-and-a-half mile beach, sand dunes, salt marshes and woodland. The bay is accessible from the nearby village of
Oxwich . A small stream called Nicholaston Pill traverses the dunes and helps to feed an area of marshland running almost parallel to the beach. This forms a wetland site at the rear of the dunes that is designated as the Oxwich Burrows National Nature Reserve. Oxwich Point lies to the south west of the beach and just out into the
Bristol Channel . Three Cliffs Bay marks the opposite end of the long sandy beach that fronts Oxwich Bay. The bay is a very popular destination for sunbathing, swimming. It is also a favourite for watersports such as diving, sailing, water skiing and windsurfing. A public footpath runs along the cliffs, starting from Oxwich Bay before heading around Oxwich Point and on to Port Eynon Bay. The ruins of the Tudor manor house known as
Oxwich Castle can be found slightly inland from where the beach meets the wooded headland forming Oxwhich Point . A number of underwater cables leave mainland Britain at Oxwich.
