South Somerset Food Festival - 29th September to 7th October 2007! With over fifty events, this year's festival is going to be bigger and better than ever - from 29th September to 7th October! Nine days of mouth-watering events to show off the best of local produce, the quality of local businesses and the glory of the landscape where the food is grown. Whatever your mood or location there's something to suit - from Chard to Bruton, East Lambrook to Hinton St George. Go traditional at a village pub, try posh at a restaurant or be dainty in a tea-room. The full range of eating places is here, offering scrumptious menus made from locally produced ingredients. You can get serious about breakfast with the Queen's Arms at Corton Denham. This pub boasts of the very finest breakfast with village eggs, home-cured bacon and homemade breads and jams. If that leaves you feeling guilty you could combine it with a ridge walk! Find food for all the senses at the Meeting House in Ilminster with the aroma of home made cheese scones, the taste of delectable cakes and the sight of the Food in Art exhibition. What do you think the cider lolly competition consists of? And have you got what it takes to enjoy a yard of ale or cider? Find out at South Petherton's Brewers Arms where customers also get to cast their vote on the best Somerset beer. Clapton Mill's ice-cream parlour is the place to take the children so long as the grown-ups go too. Don't worry if Knickerbocker Glory is too tame - just try apple crumble sundae with Somerset Cider Brandy hot fudge sauce!! And when the eating becomes too much then turn your hand to growing. Get down and dirty at Fergus Dowding's walled, organic veg garden. Fergus will show you how to sow, nurture and grow all the year long - even when you haven't got a heap of time to do it. And with great special offers on accommodation in the local area - you'll be spoilt for choice from start to finish!
