Vidal Sassoon
- Favourite Briton.

Born in Hammersmith, London
Born on 17th of January 1928
Died on 9th of May 2012

Vidal Sassoon was one of the figures who made the sixties a decade of such fresh style in the UK and USA. He trained in Mayfair as a hairdresser, then (after fighting for Israel in 1948) opened his own salon in 1954. Sassoon saw that success would come with innovation, and was drawn to simple, ‘efficient’ styles, leading to the angular reinvention of the bob that made his name. He opened his first US salon in 1965, and later diversified into a hair-styling school and a range of hair-care products that proved very lucrative. Sassoon became a regular face on TV on both sides of the Atlantic.
