The Honourable Edward Henry Butler Vaizey, though the son of a Labour Life Peer, was educated at St Paul’s and became a Conservative politician. He worked as a researcher for the Tory party before qualifying as a barrister, also enjoying a career as a freelance political commentator. Vaizey worked as a speechwriter for Michael Howard and became a member of the so-called Notting Hill Set along with figures like Michael Gove, George Osborne, and David Cameron. First elected to Parliament in 2005 Vaizey was appointed a Minister in 2010, and Minister of State in 2014.
