Born 1923 - English comedy and performer.

Wrote scripts for radio shows including Variety Bandbox (1947) and Educating Archie (1950-54). Starred in his own BBC television series Sykes. Stage performances included Large As Life (1960) and Cinderella (1981-82). Appeared in films Heavens Above! (1963) and Monte Carlo or Bust! (1969). Awarded OBE in 1986.
