Henry Jones
Born in Grandborough, BuckinghamshireBorn on 20th of September 1851
Died on 8th of January 1929
In the Victorian dramatic world Jones was rather atypical, from a modest farming background and with relatively little formal education. He earned his living in business until his play Only Round the Corner gave him a start as a dramatist. Jones’s output was prolific, including melodramas, realist problem pieces, and social comedies, Mrs Dane’s Defence perhaps the best known for the film versions made of it.
