Herbert Howells

Died on 23rd of February 1983
Howells was a composer educated at the RCM, where in turn he taught as he later did at St Paul’s Girls’ School and for many years at London University. His works include a piano concerto and the celebrated Lambert’s Clavichord, but he is best-known for his Anglican church music, his choral works, especially Stabat Mater and Hymnus Paradisi frequently performed today.
