Became editor of the Sunday Express in 1928 turning it into one of the most profitable newspapers in the world. Introduced the first crossword puzzle and astrology column into a British newspaper. Retired as editor in 1952, wrote a weekly column called Current Events.

He was my mothers full cousin. He was educated at Morgan Academy. Left school at 14years and joined the Staff of D.C.Thomson Publishers in Dundee left there to work in The Express in Fleet Street London.
