Became famous in the London production of the musical Godspell. Played the lead in the That’ll Be The Day and its sequel Stardust. He then wrote and recorded Rock On followed by many successful singles and albums for CBS Records. Appeared in the musical Evita and War of the Worlds. Awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to charity in 1999.
