Did you know that the world’s oldest football dates from circa 1540 and was found behind the oak panelling in Mary Queen of Scots bedroom in Stirling Castle ? It is on display at the Smith Museum , Stirling. It is only about half the size of a modern football (but give FIFA time and we may get there), with a cow-hide or deer-hide exterior protecting an inflatable pig’s bladder.
