Museum lovers will enjoy the exhibits on offer at at The North East Museum, and The Discovery Museum, or for a poignant and thought provoking experience The Royal Hussars has much to share. If shopping is a must then the fabulous Metro Centre with over three hundred shops maybe one temptation too many, and for smaller visitors there's the wonder of Beamish Open Air Museum which covers three hundred acres of County Durham countryside, where shops, houses and buildings are crammed with treasures waiting to be seen.
