Born 1929. Died 2005 - English comic actor.
An English comic writer and actor adept at precisely detailed characterisations, tongue-twisting comic lyrics and saucy humour. He made many television appearances such as The Frost Report (1966-67), Hark at Barker (1969-70), Porridge (1974-77) and Open All Hours (1976, 1981-85). With Ronnie Corbett he made the long running The Two Ronnies (1971-87). Publications include Book of Boudoir Beauties (1975) and Ooh-la-la! (1983). He was awarded the OBE in 1978.
