Lying just to the north of Barmouth in Gwynedd on the North Wales coast is the village of Llanaber with Cardigan Bay close by. Easily accessible by rail, there is a station here which is on the Shrewsbury to Lleyn Peninsula route and a trip along this route provides for some exciting views across the bay. The village itself lies at the foothills of part of the Snowdonia Range on that narrow part of land that is the dramatic and often beautiful Welsh coastline. The attraction of Llanaber lies in its location, for those who enjoy beachcombing or a long easy stroll then the sandy beach stretching around into Cardigan Bay is just the thing. However if you are feeling a little more energetic then there are the old drovers paths leading up the hillside which in part are quite steep but provide some excellent views along this stretch of coast. Llanber is also immersed in history, it has a church, Church of St Bodfan, dating back to the 13th century whilst within its grounds are two interestingly marked stones, these stones are marked with Roman writing dating them to around the late 5th / early 6th century and are believed to be commemorative headstones.
